Music Ministry
MUSIC MINISTRY
The music ministry at Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church
encompasses many varied and exciting areas including the Celebration Choir,
Orchestra and Worship Team.
Celebration Choir
Celebration Choir Director: Stan George - (408) 847-4605
The Celebration Choir is open to anyone who is out of high school,
regardless of whether or not they are members in the church. The group meets
for rehearsal every Thursday evening from 7:30 until 9:00 pm in the church
sanctuary.
The choir does not rehearse in the summer.
Choir members get the chance to sing a wide variety of music, from classic
to contemporary. We also have a great men�s ensemble which has sung at the
Morgan Hill Independence Day Parade opening, as well as at the San Jose
Giants games.
Our choir season runs from September until the end of May. The choir leads
worship every Sunday at the 9:00 service. Choir members have an opportunity
to not only sing, but also act as individual worship leaders by leading
prayers and doing the morning welcome and announcements. In addition, the
Celebration Choir also puts on a memorable Christmas concert every December
and offers special music on many other occasions.
If you are looking for a fun and meaningful way to get involved in a
ministry, we invite you to visit us at any rehearsal. You can begin singing
at any time and it is not necessary to read music.
Orchestra
If you are looking for an opportunity to play your instrument in a group,
the MHPC Music Ministry can help. Whether you are young or old...a string
player, brass, percussion or woodwind...there are many chances for you to
glorify God with your music.
Christmas and Easter are just two of the times when we put together an
orchestra. There are also various Sundays throughout the year when
instruments are needed. Sometimes our orchestra is a small ensemble and
other times it is a large group, you can choose to play in either or both!
Worship Team
Worship Team Leader: Daniel Dupre - (408) 779-2820
The Worship Team leads the music in our second service. It plays every
Sunday at the 10:50 service and, on special occasions, at the 9:00 service
as well. If you enjoy contemporary, rock-style music, this is the place
for you.
The Worship Team consists of a rhythm guitar, electric bass, piano,
keyboard, drums, percussion and vocals. We welcome anyone with enough
experience to see a piece of music on Wednesday and play it skillfully on
Sunday morning. Vocalists should be able to harmonize by ear. It�s a
fast-paced but fun group to join.
The Worship Team also seeks sound technicians and folks who can provide
visuals through our new worship and presentation software on Sunday
mornings.
